“What Should I Outsource First?”
This question gets asked too many times to count. Many people find themselves stuck on the topic of choosing what they need to outsource first, so don’t worry if you keep finding yourself in this situation.
You can start by using these 3 criteria to help you determine what to start with:
- Am I Procrastinating At This Task? Are you finding yourself constantly pushing off that stack of papers, or that appointment that needs to be set, or maybe just making a new post on social media. If you find yourself procrastinating at tasks that need to be done, it may be time to pass it on to someone else so you can focus on what you’re good at.
- Am I Good At Doing This Task? Not everyone can be great at everything unfortunately. Even though we sometimes think we are, that is usually not the case. Typically, when we are not good at performing a task, it takes a while (if ever) to get done and usually isn’t done well.
- Could Someone Else Do This Better? Most people find it hard to let go of control of certain aspects of a business because they believe they are the only ones who can do it efficiently and correctly. It can be tough to relinquish control sometimes but when the right person and systems are put in place it can be game changer for the growth of a business. A man once said, “I didn’t know how bad I was at the task until someone else started doing it.”
Some of the easiest tasks to start outsourcing are the ones that are taking up too much of your time. This includes most administrative work, social media management, follow up calls, marketing, etc. These are all activities that are necessary for most businesses but could be easily and affordably outsourced so you can focus on the more important tasks.
If you’re new to outsourcing and don’t know where to start, begin by picking 1 or 2 of these tasks and investing your new free time in the tasks that make your business money. When you can eventually focus on just the Income Producing Tasks for your business, you will start to see real growth!
